Often, people come up with an idea for a business, product or service after they have completed a coaching program, participated in a marketing teleconference or attended a motivational seminar. This is great because it’s the first step toward entrepreneurial freedom!
The next step is to define how your business idea fits into your current lifestyle. Use these two power keys to define, refine and align your lifestyle with your ideas and goals.
Power Key 1: Assess Yourself Honestly!
What is showing up in your life right now? What are your main concerns? Do you or your family members have any health concerns? Do you have a solid support system comprised of a spouse, family, and/or close friends? Do you have the time and energy it takes to start a part-time or full-time business? Do you have the financial foundation to stay afloat for 6 to 12 months? What could potentially block your success?
In which areas of your life are you happy or at least satisfied, and which areas do you want to change? No area is more important than another, because a meaningful life is one of balance and fulfillment on many levels.
Self-assessment requires that you evaluate yourself and your lifestyle honestly as if you are an objective observer. It will help you get crystal clear about what you really want, whether you are ready to launch your business right now, and if so, how to design your business blueprint.
Power Key 2: Get Crystal Clear About What You Deeply Desire For Your Life
This next power key involves three practical steps which will help you clearly understand who you are authentically, and what you desire for your life. So how do you really get crystal clear?
Step One: Get Quiet
Sit in a comfortable, quiet place with no distractions. Be still, meditate, relax and just listen to that little inner voice that has been trying to reach you. What is trying to come forth from you?
Step Two: Note Ideas That Keep Calling YOU
What do you like to do, what interests you, what keeps attracting and holding your attention? What patterns keep showing up in your life? In what type of classes are you interested, but never allow yourself to take? What do you daydream about…ideas like opening a day spa, or a gourmet shop at the beach in Martha’s Vineyard, or using your creative flair with food to become a chef?
Step Three: Record Your Answers to These Questions
Next, while still in your quiet place, let your body and mind relax, and tell your inner self: Let’s go a little deeper.
What images keep popping into your mind when you think about your passion? If you had all the money in the world, what would you be doing with it? What do you really want to do next?
Write down whatever comes to your mind, whatever you deeply, seriously long for, not just superficial or material desires. Allow yourself to think really, really big! Do not edit yourself! This exercise will help you create a clearer picture for your next steps in creating your business idea.
