The Top 3 Blogs For 2016

In looking back over 2016, I have written numerous blogs on life purpose, fully living, sabotage, perfection, meaningful work and many more. I have included resources and steps to help you make change and have answered your most pressing concerns about your fears, doubts, challenges, and deepest desires.

The key topics I see emerging from this list of the most widely read posts are:

  1. How to find and live your life purpose.
  2. How to deal with negative beliefs and thoughts.
  3. What is my calling?
  4. How to integrate creativity in my busy life?

Below are the top 3 most read posts in 2016. I am digging deeper this year in supporting people to take the chance to live more fully from their true authentic, courageous, wild self.

Are You Living Your One Previous Life?

Happy senior couple playing with a wheelbarrow

Life today is clearly more stressful, complicated and unpredictable than it has ever been.

As a result, many of us are tired, worried, stressed and depleted of our life energy. Many people are experiencing some kind of concern about, health, emotional issues or relationships.

Frequently, when I speak with a new client, I hear many of the same concerns such as, “I am so exhausted, I can’t make it through the day.” “I am tired of the life I am living”

Does this sound like your life? You are just going through life in a mindless way, only to realize one day that you are faced with divorce, have a health issue, or over your head in debt.

I have found that many people continue to struggle to maintain a lifestyle that is no longer life-sustaining.

We rarely stop our daily grind long enough to be mindful of our life and what is happening around us. Often people purchase more “things” which they think will help them manage or enjoy their already over-extended lifestyle.

It seems to me that we have allowed ourselves to be hypnotized and seduced by the media, financial institutions, celebrities and political leaders who want to control our lives and our beliefs. If we believe the world is falling apart, that belief takes away our power. However, we have choices in how we decide to believe: are we going to create a new world, or are we going to struggle through this one to our death?

Alternative girl with piercing unmask a good girl

We have forgotten who we truly are!

Take off the mask and look at the truth of your life and the world around you. We are all divine souls and we have the choice to live our lives as we choose. The divine gave us free will, emotions and the ability to choose. It may seem that you don’t have a choice anymore, but you do.

As an entrepreneur who has been running my own coaching, training, and retreat business for 25 years, I know firsthand how exhausting it can be to keep all the “balls in the air.”

Several years ago, I made a decision to work more in my home office, decrease most of my unnecessary commitments, and also reduce activities such as networking, attending too many conferences and over-volunteering.

I released many people around me who were not honoring and supporting me in my personal and spiritual development.

I decided to spend more time with myself to meditate, write, walk, pray, and share the precious life I have left with friends who are awake and who have a high vibration for life. I also decided to engage in activism that can help change the world.

To make change requires you to get quiet and to have time to be introspective.

If we do not get quiet, we will never be able to ask ourselves the essential questions of life:

LifePurpose

What do I deeply want for my life?

What is next in my life and what do I need to release to move into a vibration that will help me manifest the aspects of my life that I truly want?

During these times of turbulent change on the Earth, I highly recommend some of the following steps to help you energize, and reconnect to what is truly important in your life.

  • Stop telling your STORY! If you are still telling the same old story, you have not “let go” so you can heal your life. Instead of the story, ask yourself what you have learned from your life experience and what you need to release so you can move forward. Allow yourself to move through the resistance to hear the truth.
  • Take a look at your relationships: they reflect your relationship with yourself. If you do not love yourself, you will have a void in your connection with your body, mind and spirit. If you want intimacy and deep love in your life, you must first love yourself. You will then draw in the vibration of a similar level of love from everyone around you.
  • Take your own power back by choosing not to be a victim. Do not listen to fearful thoughts from people around you or from the negative media. Most of the time the media does not know what is really happening in the world! Find sources that support and empower you to become powerful.
  • Be aware of the tricksters who present themselves as gurus, leaders or teachers, who attempt to take your power and control from you. These so-called teachers do not allow you to step into your power. You already have the God/goddess ability to know how to change and heal your life.
  • Clear and detox your body, mind, and spirit. Spend some time connecting with the Earth, place your feet on the Earth and allow the energy to move upward in your body and release the fear and negativity. Listen to music that has a high vibration. Sounds can help clear and rebalance your cells. Go to www.Tom Kenyon.com for free downloads.

3 Ways to Stop Sabotaging Your Success

Stop Sabotaging Your Success

Let’s assume that you’ve identified your true purpose in life and you’re on your way to actualizing it. And then you fall off track. You realize that you have started to sabotage reaching your goals.

Perhaps you’re not keeping up with writing your blog. Perhaps you’re procrastinating on starting an important new project. Maybe you’re not getting regular exercise or losing those extra 20 pounds. Or you’re becoming stressed out or feeling guilty about time away from family. Why?

Here are a few ways to get motivated to get back on track.

Believe You Will Succeed
Many of us lack the confidence we need to pursue our dreams. We tend to doubt ourselves. We can be so afraid of failing that we unconsciously sabotage our success. We all fail at something, but failure is the best way in the world to learn to develop stamina and resilience. Louise Hay, motivational author, says to tell yourself every morning, “I am successful, I am confident, I am supported by people who desire to work with me.”

Surround Yourself with Successful People
It is important to surround yourself with positive thinking people—friends and co-workers who are emotionally and spiritually grounded and making a difference in the world. People who support your dreams and help you find ways to manifest your business or career. Your dreams are fragile. Be careful who you share you deepest desires with.

Align Your Thoughts with Your Goals
Our thoughts and feelings are alive. They are energy, just like everything else in the world. If you are having a hard time manifesting what you deeply desire for your life, it could be because you are struck in an old belief about yourself.

Changing this belief is a critical step in learning to align your thoughts with your life vision or goals. If you want to be successful in your business or in any area of your life you must be aware of your emotions and thoughts. Write down your goals and see them as already happening.

How Can We Avoid Self-sabotage?

Cultivating mindful awareness of our behavior is key to avoiding the pitfalls of self-sabotage. The steps involved are the same as those I teach in my coaching on finding one’s true purpose:

  • Meditate and reflect. Get quiet and connect to the present moment. Acknowledge the critical inner voice whispering in your ear, telling you that you can’t succeed.
  • Sit with a journal or piece of paper. Ask yourself: “What did I do/not do to defeat my progress towards my goal?
  • Pay attention! Over time, the deep reasons behind your self-doubt will be revealed. The truth might at first make you anxious because it means challenging deeply engrained, old and familiar attitudes that we’ve long held about ourselves.

Change Can Be Hard – Don’t Tough it Out Alone

Exploring old, unproductive, limiting thought patterns and changing them can be difficult. And our tendency to back-slide on the best of intentions is pernicious. I can help you take control by helping you develop a Life Purpose Action Plan to move you forward faster. Once you identify and process the root cause of your fear, and learn how to manage it, the self-sabotaging behavior will stop.

Why Is It So Important To Discover Your Purpose?

“Cherish your visions and your dreams as they are the children of your soul, the blueprints of your ultimate achievements” ~ Napoleon Hill

We are all born with a life purpose, unique gifts and talents. Most of us never question our purpose.

We don’t spend the time to go deeper into our inner self to ask the questions that will start to reveal the answers to: Why am I here? What is my deeper work in the world? How do I lead and serve other people?

Our purpose is the reason we are alive. It is not our job, a role, a title, or our company.

Purpose is a deeper knowing inside of us that encourages us to answer that most important question who we are, why we are here and what are we here to do.

It is a source of deep vitality and vision. It is the rocket fuel that will get you up every day and keep you focused on your true north path.

According to Harvard Business Review, there is an explosion of interest from small business owners and leaders in corporations pursing their purpose.

Why is purpose important for your personal development and for your business vision?

Doctors have found that people who have a purpose are less prone to disease. Psychologists describe it as the pathway to well-being. Business experts say it is the key to exceptional performance.

Whether you are an entrepreneur with a startup or the CEO of a major Fortune 500 company, a nurse practitioner, a manager of a spa, an organic farmer, a professor of nursing, or a soft wear developer you will benefit from having clarity about your purpose and or business vision for your life.

It is the very essence of what will guide you through the extremely turbulent time in the world today and it will help anchor you in the up and down times in your personal life that include health, relationship, financial and spiritual crisis.

It will help you stay focused on your dream for your business, why you started your business and what you want to bring into the world. If you have no purpose you can quickly become burned-out, disillusioned, and unable to stay focus on sustaining your goals.

Without a purpose you may make money but you will not stay around long without an authentic, valuable product or service that improves the quality of other’s lives.

I have found that the critical factor for my life and for my client’s success is to have a purposeful vision that is guided by your highest calling.

Is your Life Trying to Get Your Attention to Live More on Purpose?

Live-More-on-Purpose

Stress and burnout are common terms we hear and use today. But what are those feelings really trying to tell us?

Is something out of kilter or do you find less joy and meaning in your job or business? Are you just going through the motions of something that once excited and motivated you?

From my own personal experiences and those of my clients, it was a feeling often equated to stress or burnout that turned out to be a wake-up call from inside that we were off-course in our life purpose.

Many people decide on a career path when they are young – in high school or college – or have it thrust upon them by their parents’ desire to see their child prosper in their adult life. Or they may have started a business with much enthusiasm and energy.

Then years later, they begin to feel disenchanted with the career choice or find their business is not giving them the satisfaction it once did.

This is a very uncomfortable and difficult place to be in. After all, there was much effort and expense getting to where you are today. And it is hard to think of abandoning or giving up on something you once wanted or seem destined to achieve.

But, this is one of many course corrections to be made in life.

If you are feeling disengaged or burned out, it is a sign to get back in touch with your true self.

So how does a professional, business owner, or entrepreneur figure out what is next on their journey?

I have found that the answers are inside each person if they are willing to give themselves the time and quiet to find their true self.

Life Purpose_DalaiLama

For business or professional people, to help make the time and quiet for clarity and then take action towards your life purpose, a coach with experience in both life purpose and business can make it easier to reach the point where you are living in the moment and enjoying your vocation and your life more fully.

For business people, the steps needed may mean a major career change, a rebranding or a reinvention. Or it may mean starting a new business or expanding your current business.

In any case, having someone coach, or mentor you and hold you accountable to yourself in prioritizing and acting on the steps needed to succeed is critical.

So if you are feeling stuck or out of kilter with yourself and your career or business, you may be feeling stress or burnout. And this may be your inner self struggling to clue you in on needed changes. Visit https://joycedillon.com/life-and-passion-quiz for a quiz about your life and passion.

It may be the easiest step you take to get motivated, excited and satisfied with your life again.

Is the Life or Business You Are Living The Life You Desire?

Life desires

As I travel to engage in conferences or coach entrepreneurs, teach life purpose classes or facilitate painting retreats, people consistently ask me the same question: “Joyce, how do I discover my purpose in life?”

Right now, millions of people are experiencing a yearning and desire to awaken to their unique gifts and talents, offer them in service to the world, and to enjoy a life of abundance and fulfillment as a result.

So why is living a life of meaning and purpose so elusive? It is because our current social system does not support us to live “on purpose” but rather to live “in survival mode.”

This is why many people feel trapped in a dull, daily routine which drains their life energy. They may also be plagued by stress, and wracked with anxiety and fear. Others are frantically “chasing the buck” and/or consumed with their lust for power and possessions.

However, many others may already enjoy freedom, the fruit of their prosperity generated from their business, but even such freedom does not quench their thirst for true and rich meaning in their life.

One of life’s great fulfillments is achieving true inner and outer purpose.

As we know, it is not always easy to find and live your life purpose! While this reflection work cannot be fully accomplished during a single session or a weekend retreat, it is a great place to start this process.

So how and where do you start?

The process begins with becoming self-aware, then accepting a high level of responsibility for your life. Next, you can learn how to remove the blocks and beliefs that keep you from realizing your true potential.

Clear your Path

Getting Clear on a New Path

The first step is to get quiet and get connected to the present moment. You must release your concerns regarding your past and your future. Meditation and quiet reflection are essential tools you’ll use on this journey of self-discovery.

Sit with a journal or piece of paper. Ask yourself: “What is trying to come forth in my life? What is my inner purpose for my life? What is my greater calling?”

Keep meditating and asking these questions.

Pay attention! Over time, your purpose will be revealed through the type of information, events and opportunities which come into your life.

Sarah’s Search to Reveal Her Life Purpose

Sarah, a divorce attorney, consulted me to help her break through her unhappiness within her current legal career. She wanted to start a business that was in alignment with her desire to empower women to use their gifts to enjoy a more meaningful life.

We started by examining Sarah’s life for common threads and major themes. Together, we identified her core, lifelong strengths, values, and passions that energized her and brought her joy.

As a result of this work together, Sarah started a non-profit organization which empowers women around the world to build small businesses which support themselves and their families. Sarah is now enjoying a more meaningful and purposeful life!

2 Steps to Take Before You Successfully Launch a Business

Launch

Often, people come up with an idea for a business, product or service after they have completed a coaching program, participated in a marketing teleconference or attended a motivational seminar. This is great because it’s the first step toward entrepreneurial freedom!

The next step is to define how your business idea fits into your current lifestyle. Use these two power keys to define, refine and align your lifestyle with your ideas and goals.

Power Key 1: Assess Yourself Honestly!

What is showing up in your life right now? What are your main concerns? Do you or your family members have any health concerns? Do you have a solid support system comprised of a spouse, family, and/or close friends? Do you have the time and energy it takes to start a part-time or full-time business? Do you have the financial foundation to stay afloat for 6 to 12 months? What could potentially block your success?

In which areas of your life are you happy or at least satisfied, and which areas do you want to change? No area is more important than another, because a meaningful life is one of balance and fulfillment on many levels.

Self-assessment requires that you evaluate yourself and your lifestyle honestly as if you are an objective observer. It will help you get crystal clear about what you really want, whether you are ready to launch your business right now, and if so, how to design your business blueprint.

Power Key 2: Get Crystal Clear About What You Deeply Desire For Your Life

This next power key involves three practical steps which will help you clearly understand who you are authentically, and what you desire for your life. So how do you really get crystal clear?

Step One: Get Quiet

Sit in a comfortable, quiet place with no distractions. Be still, meditate, relax and just listen to that little inner voice that has been trying to reach you. What is trying to come forth from you?

Step Two: Note Ideas That Keep Calling YOU

What do you like to do, what interests you, what keeps attracting and holding your attention? What patterns keep showing up in your life? In what type of classes are you interested, but never allow yourself to take? What do you daydream about…ideas like opening a day spa, or a gourmet shop at the beach in Martha’s Vineyard, or using your creative flair with food to become a chef?

Step Three: Record Your Answers to These Questions

Next, while still in your quiet place, let your body and mind relax, and tell your inner self: Let’s go a little deeper.

What images keep popping into your mind when you think about your passion? If you had all the money in the world, what would you be doing with it? What do you really want to do next?

Write down whatever comes to your mind, whatever you deeply, seriously long for, not just superficial or material desires. Allow yourself to think really, really big! Do not edit yourself! This exercise will help you create a clearer picture for your next steps in creating your business idea.

How Do We Live Fully In The Present Moment?

“Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life.” ― Eckhart Tolle

PresentMoment_August2015

Living in the moment means letting go of the past and not waiting for the future to arrive. It means living your life consciously aware that each moment your breath is a genuine gift!

So how do you start the process of living in the moment?

First you must become aware of how much time you spend dwelling on past memories, losses and mistakes, and considering how to resolve these old problems.

Next, think about how much time you spend focused on your future. Believing you will be fulfilled only when you get that great car, that perfect romantic relationship or that once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity is often not as fulfilling as you thought.

Such beliefs physically drain you of the life energy you need to experience the only thing that is real, which is the Now.

In his renowned book, Spiritual Solutions, Deepak Chopra speaks to the reality that it is our own mind, with its nearly constant stream of thoughts about the past, and the concern for the future that causes all of our anxiety and anguish. We create our own problems, not other people or outside environmental forces.

To live in the present moment means you have to be willing to slow down, simplify and do nothing. It takes a while to get to this point. It can be more difficult than it sounds. If you’re not in the habit of doing nothing for periods of time, how do you start?

Key 1: Start with an hour, perhaps a lunch hour, or choose to get up an hour early or set aside an hour on the weekend to just sit and be with yourself.

Key 2: Pay attention to what you are doing as you are doing it. It helps us truly see what is going on in our lives.

Many of us go through our days almost as though we are sleepwalking. Every now and then, we wake up for a brief instant of clarity and say to ourselves, “Why is this happening in my life”?

And then we fall back into our semiconscious state as we continue bumbling about, half asleep at the wheel of life. We don’t pay sufficient attention to what we are doing as we are doing it, and then we wonder why we end up in the predicaments that we do.

Key 3: Start by being aware of your daily thoughts and what you are thinking about. How much energy are you giving away to the past or the future? Be willing to slow down and start experiencing your moment-by-moment life.

Awaken To Your Calling: Create the Life and Work You Love

women_with_arms_outstretched

  • Are you yearning to make a life change but find it overwhelming?
  • Do you continue to work at a job that drains your very soul?
  • Are you fearful of doing what you most desire to do?

There is always a particular moment when you clearly know you need to make change in your life. That desire for change is a like a grain of sand in a shoe, imperceptible at first but grinding away until it becomes the only thing you notice. Your instinct is to dismiss the feelings. Saying, “I can tough this out “or “it could be worse”.

Often we find it easier to recognize the emotions and feeling of others but nearly impossible to recognize our own needs and yearnings. Why is this?

By midlife, after years of loss, comprise, denial, and fear we lose track of our “true self” and the dreams we had. We often struggle letting go of what does not serve our highest needs.

The ego has great difficulty letting go of anything and will defend itself with great intensity. The truth is we must let go of who we are in order to become who we want to be. Gregory Levoy, author of Callings: Finding and Following an Authentic life says, “Sometimes we hear the calling but fear what will be demanded of us if we respond to the “call”.

Our lives speak through our actions and reactions, our intuitions and instincts, our feelings and our words. If we can learn to listen, read our own responses, we will receive the guidance we need.

You must slow down to be able to hear the “calling”, as to why you need to reinvent yourself, change your mindset, change your career, go back to school, or start a business.

Moments of awareness come in many ways to point us toward action.
They include:

  • A dream that keeps coming back.
  • A symptom in your body that reoccurs
  • A call from someone you need to hear from
  • A book that falls into your lap
  • An emotional issue that keeps reappearing
  • A e-mail that excites you about doing volunteer work

These wake-up calls stimulate your intuition; encourage you to ask deeper questions and to seek the answers. This process is a gateway into the deepest layers of your “inner self”.

The time is now! All it takes is an idea, a discovery or a breakthrough that turns the fear of your unwanted situation into the hope of new possibilities.

It’s Never Too Late To Change Your Life

women_with_arms_outstretchedIt’s never too late – never too late to start over, never too late to be happy. -Jane Fonda

Change is inevitable-and it is everywhere around us on the planet…

It’s hard not to see all the changes that are happening around us-as our old rigid structures such as our political, finance, health, are crumbling in front of us.

Most everyone I know has experienced some life-changing crisis that has required drastic change?

In the last few years, I have experienced several health challenges, and loss and grief of many things I loved in my life. Experiencing deep grief requires you to dig deep into who you are at your essence to help you rebound and reset the course of your life.

I had to work with my thoughts and beliefs daily to get through this rough period. It was about letting go of deep fear of loss and grief of who I thought my self to be. This transformative process required a profound shift in my mind, body and spirit. Here are three steps that helped me to get unstuck.

  1. Stop focusing on what you lost. Find something to replace it, and acknowledge the blessings you have now.
  2. Follow your passion and the next steps will be revealed to you. When you look back on your life you know this to be true.
  3. Trust your intuition and pay attention to the “calls” and synchronicities of events that the universe is sending to you daily.

As difficult as this period is, the changes we are all experiencing need to happen so we can create a more vibrant, authentic, and spiritually connected life.

Yes, change is inevitable-and it all begins with you!
