Stress and burnout are common terms we hear and use today. But what are those feelings really trying to tell us?
Is something out of kilter or do you find less joy and meaning in your job or business? Are you just going through the motions of something that once excited and motivated you?
From my own personal experiences and those of my clients, it was a feeling often equated to stress or burnout that turned out to be a wake-up call from inside that we were off-course in our life purpose.
Many people decide on a career path when they are young – in high school or college – or have it thrust upon them by their parents’ desire to see their child prosper in their adult life. Or they may have started a business with much enthusiasm and energy.
Then years later, they begin to feel disenchanted with the career choice or find their business is not giving them the satisfaction it once did.
This is a very uncomfortable and difficult place to be in. After all, there was much effort and expense getting to where you are today. And it is hard to think of abandoning or giving up on something you once wanted or seem destined to achieve.
But, this is one of many course corrections to be made in life.
If you are feeling disengaged or burned out, it is a sign to get back in touch with your true self.
So how does a professional, business owner, or entrepreneur figure out what is next on their journey?
I have found that the answers are inside each person if they are willing to give themselves the time and quiet to find their true self.
For business or professional people, to help make the time and quiet for clarity and then take action towards your life purpose, a coach with experience in both life purpose and business can make it easier to reach the point where you are living in the moment and enjoying your vocation and your life more fully.
For business people, the steps needed may mean a major career change, a rebranding or a reinvention. Or it may mean starting a new business or expanding your current business.
In any case, having someone coach, or mentor you and hold you accountable to yourself in prioritizing and acting on the steps needed to succeed is critical.
So if you are feeling stuck or out of kilter with yourself and your career or business, you may be feeling stress or burnout. And this may be your inner self struggling to clue you in on needed changes. Visit https://joycedillon.com/life-and-passion-quiz for a quiz about your life and passion.
