“Cherish your visions and your dreams as they are the children of your soul, the blueprints of your ultimate achievements” ~ Napoleon Hill
We are all born with a life purpose, unique gifts and talents. Most of us never question our purpose. We don’t spend the time to go deeper into our inner self to ask the questions that will start to reveal the answers to: Why am I here? What is my deeper work in the world? What is trying to come forth in my life? How do I lead and serve other people?
Our purpose is the reason we are alive. It is not our job, a role, a title, or our company.
Purpose is a deeper knowing inside of us that encourages us to answer that most important question who we are, why we are here and what are we here to do. It is a source of deep vitality and vision. It is the rocket fuel that will get you up every day and keep you focused on your true north path.
Mark Twain says “the two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”
Why is purpose important for you personally and for your life vision?
You would not set out on a sailing voyage without a plan or direction for where you are going and why you are sailing there. If you do, eventually you will end of somewhere you may not want to be and along the way your journey can get really turbulent.
According to Harvard Business Review, there is an explosion of interest from small business owners, coaches, entrepreneurs and leaders in corporations pursuing their purpose. Why have some corporations started to support people in finding and living their own individual purpose?
Whether you are an entrepreneur with a startup or the CEO of a major Fortune 500 company, a nurse practitioner, a manager of a spa, an organic farmer, a professor of nursing, or a software developer you will benefit from having clarity about your life purpose and how your purpose aligns with your business vision.
- It is the very essence of what will guide you through the extremely turbulent time in the world today and it will help anchor you in the up and down times in your personal life that include health, relationship, financial and spiritual crisis.
- It will help you stay focused on your dream for your life, career, or business, why you started your business and what you want to bring into the world.
- If you have no purpose you can quickly become burned-out, disillusioned, and unable to stay focus on sustaining your goals.
Doctors have found that people who have a purpose are less prone to disease. Psychologists describe it as the pathway to well-being. Business experts say it is the key to exceptional performance.
Without a purpose you may make money but you will not stay around long without an authentic, valuable mission, product or service that improves the quality of other’s lives.
